Long Island City is quickly transforming into a diverse, mixed-use community of businesses and residents. The Partnership is proud to be at the center of this transformation - working to attract new businesses, assist and retain those already here, welcome new residents and visitors, and promote our vibrant neighborhood.
We have assisted over 10,000 businesses over the past ten years and host up to 30 networking events a year. Between October 2009 and January 2011 we helped companies access $15,877,000 in financing, $963,000 in funding for employee training, and $1,037,000 in government incentives. Additionally, we reported over 250 incidences of graffiti for removal. We have also partnered with NYCEDC and elected officials on the implementation of an $80 million capital improvement program.

“… I appreciate all the hard work that went into planning such an impressive event, and I was delighted to be on hand to celebrate LICBDC’s accomplishments and the dynamic contributions of Silvercup and Kaufman Astoria Studios. I share Mayor Bloomberg’s enthusiasm for Long Island City’s emergence as a premier business center and LICBDC’s integral role in making this happen. Your efforts set a new standard for local development corporations to emulate citywide.”
- Robert W. Walsh, Commissioner, NYC Department of Small Business Services
Fernanda Capobianco-Payard, proprietor of Vegan Divas, had been looking for space to expand her certified vegan, kosher and organic bakery. Just as she was about to give up hope on finding a space in NYC, she was referred to LIC Partnership. The Partnership promptly connected her to the owners of Butter Cup Bakery who agreed to sublet part of their LIC kitchen to Vegan Divas. Now that they are settled into their new space, Vegan Divas is successfully operating in Long Island City.
"I was first made aware of the free Con Ed energy survey by an email from LIC Partnership, explaining subsidized upgrades and retrofits for up to 70% of the cost. The survey was done and a proposal was made to retrofit my lighting. For an out of pocket cost of $1076, I would save about $200 per month. A very professional crew was sent for the installation, allowing us to work as usual while the work was completed. We are very pleased with our new lighting that will continually save my business money."
