Gayle Baron
Gayle Baron is the Executive Director of the Long Island City Business Improvement District, and the President of the Long Island City Business Development Corporation (LICBDC). She is also the co-chair of the New York City BID Managers Association. Ms. Baron is playing an integral role in the area’s renaissance. Under Ms. Baron’s leadership, the LICBDC spearheaded the creation of the BID in 2005.
Ms. Baron was formerly an executive with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, running numerous economic development ventures and real estate, ground transportation, parking and building services functions for John F. Kennedy International Airport. Ms. Baron has also served as Executive Director of the New York Women’s Agenda (NYWA).
Named one of the Top Ten Business Women in Queens, Ms. Baron serves on the boards of several civic and professional organizations including the Travel and Tourism Academy of New York City, Park East Properties and Queens Woman’s Advisory Council. She is also a past board member of NYC and Company and New York University’s Tisch Center for Travel, Tourism and Sports Management. In 1998, Governor Pataki appointed Ms. Baron as a delegate to the White House Conference on Tourism. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Florida State University, Ms. Baron has been honored by FSU, Women’s Equity, United Way, the Boy Scouts and Project Legacy for her lifetime commitment to community development.
