The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2014, in the United States, there will have been nearly 300,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed, resulting in approximately 40,000 deaths. The risk factors for breast cancer are murky, at best. Beyond those BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes – research goes back and forth about how things like breastfeeding, birth control, or childbearing can affect a woman's likelihood of getting the disease.
