Kite Flight – Socrates Sculpture Park

Using recycled materials, participants will draw inspiration from the Park’s fantastic view of the Manhattan skyline to build and decorate a kite, and then fly it in the Park.

Socrates and The Noguchi Museum present our annual kite event. Using recycled materials, children and their families draw inspiration from the Park’s fantastic view of the Man­hattan skyline to build and decorate kites, and then fly them in the Park. As part of Civic Action, artist Natalie Jeremijenko will demonstrate kite-mapping, a low cost, easy to use method for creating maps and aerial images on demand.

Capoeira is a lively martial art that originated in Brazil over 450 years ago. Taught by Professor Abará, self-defense techniques are concealed by graceful dance moves and spectacular acrobatics set to music.
 
Classes are free and designed for all experience levels. Participants should wear comfortable clothing.
