Amy Scherber is the owner and founder of Amy’s Bread, a nationally recognized bakery/cafe that specializes in hand-made, traditional breads as well as sandwiches, sweets, and old-fashioned layer cakes.  She launched Amy’s Bread in 1992, twenty years ago, and has three retail cafes in NYC.  Her original location in Hell’s Kitchen was only 650 square feet, and she started with 5 employees. Today the staff has grown to over 200 and the bakery delivers to more than 200 wholesale customers daily. Although most production is currently done in Chelsea Market, the main bread and pastry kitchens will be moving soon, and are currently under construction in a large warehouse space in Queens.  Amy is the co-author of The Sweeter Side of Amy’s Bread and Amy’s Bread, released in February 2010.   

Amanda Fung has covered real estate for Crain’s NewYork Business since February 2009. She primarily covers the residential market and developments in the outer-boroughs. She also assists with commercial real estate coverage and contributes to the weekly Deals Plus and Neighborhood Journal columns. Before taking on those beats, Amanda spent three years covering technology and telecommunications for Crain's. Prior to joining Crain's, she was a reporter at Institutional Investor News and at American Banker.  Outside of the newsroom, she is a member of the board for H.E.A.L.T.H. for Youths Inc., a start-up nonprofit that assists at-risk adolescents and young adults in the city, and formerly served as a member of the Young Executive Board for non-profit iMentor. Amanda is a native New Yorker and graduate of New York University.

Doug Partrick  Heatherwood Communities has built over 10,000 single and multi family homes on Long Island since 1950, as well as 2 golf courses.  Doug Partrick joined the firm in 2002, bringing over 20 years experience in the construction and management of residential and commercial properties.  Seeing limited opportunities for growth in Nassau and Suffolk counties, the firm has turned to NYC.  They completed their first multifamily project in Williamsburg in 2010, are now close to finishing another project in LIC.  They are planning additional projects in both Williamsburg and LIC.

Sarah Obraitis is co-owner of M. Wells along with chef Hugue Dufour.  The wildly popular diner style restaurant served French Canadian food until it lost its lease and closed last summer.  The team plans to open a new restaurant, M. Wells Steakhouse, in a vacant garage at 43-15 Crescent Street owned by Rockrose.  A visit to a Georgia farm that raises meat and poultry and has its own slaughterhouse has inspired them to add meat butchered European style to its future menu.  The restaurant will seat 80, and some of the space will be set aside for building a catamaran.  In addition, they plan to open the M. Wells Dinette at MoMA PS1, a cafeteria within the museum.  Ms. Obraitis was previously a partner in Heritage Foods USA, and once drove four piglets cross-country without a driver’s license. 

Flint McNaughton is the founding partner of SunCap Property Group. Mostly focused on long-term, single-tenant, build to suit projects, the company currently has development projects under construction across the country with a cumulative value in excess of $250 million. Flint has over 25 years of experience in the field. He started as a commercial real estate broker with Cushman & Wakefiled, then led several national corporate real estate services accounts and completed over 350 brokerage transactions in 37 states with Lincoln Harris. Before starting SunCap, he spent five years with Lauth Property Group where he grew the full service development and construction company’s Southeast Region into the number one ranked development company in the Carolinas. Currently, SunCap is working on the new FedEx space in Long Island City.
